Life Insurance Medical Questions

When you are making your life insurance application the longest and most in depth part will be the life insurance medical questions.

We are going to cover a list of life insurance medical questions that could come up so as to prepare you for what information is required from you when you go ahead and make your application. A list of possible conditions that you will be asked about is also listed below.

The insurer will require that you are specific as possible and include dates, conditions and symptoms where requested. Most life insurance medical questions may be 'yes' or 'no' answers but in many of these cases there will be an additional sub questionnaire on the form that will require full details of the condition in question. Where necessary the insurer will provide a timescale for which your answers must be applicable, for instance 'Within the last 6 months' or 'Within the last 5 years'.

The sub questions will involve you having to disclose:

* The exact name of the medical condition.
* Whether you are still suffering from the condition or receiving treatment, if it is ongoing when are you next due a consultation or surgery.
* When the last time that you experience symptoms of this condition.
* The amount of days away from work the condition caused you to take off.
* The frequency that symptoms of this condition have been experienced.
* How severe the condition is, the insurer may provide examples for you to choose from.
* Which specific areas of the body that the condition effects.

Following the medical questions applicable to you personally the insurer will request some information on specific medical conditions suffered by your immediate family(mother, father, brother or sister).

You will be asked to specify the relation, the exact type of cancer and the age at which the relative was diagnosed.

Almost every insurer will ask you to provide the name and address of your doctor as part of the life insurance underwriting process may involve obtaining medical records or a medical report from them.
